New Book “When Brothers Agree” Showcases Texas Masonic Halls

K.Co Press announces the May release of “When Brothers Agree,” a hardcover coffee table book and pictorial survey of Masonic Halls in Texas and surrounding states, featuring photos by Texas photographer James Khattak. From historically significant to utilitarian; striking to unassuming and many styles in between, this book documents Masonic lodges in towns of all sizes.

The book’s title comes from a quote by Greek philosopher Antisthenes: “When brothers agree, no fortress is so strong as their common life."

The buildings themselves are striking examples of historic architecture, and it is very interesting to know that however different these buildings may look on the outside, their interiors and elements of consistency are the same in Masonic Halls everywhere.

“When Brothers Agree” is K.Co Press’s sixth hardcover publication, following “Ten Texas Towns And Places In-Between, Field Notes From The Back Roads” (May 2022), “Sunwashed” (Sept. 2022), “Howdy, Neighbor!” (Nov. 2022,) “Frontiers” (June 2023) and “Shorelines” (Sept. 2023.)

“When Brothers Agree” features Lodge buildings including:

    • The Grand Lodge of Texas, Waco
    • Milam Lodge, Nacogdoches, Texas
    • Tucumcari Lodge #27, Tucumcari, N.M.
    • Sweet Home Lodge, DeQueen, Ark.

And many more destinations in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Louisiana.
