Submissions
In addition to our own work, K.Co Press publishes a very small number of books by others — just one or two per year.
We specialize in art and photography books by creatives covering a wide range of subjects, book formats and editorial styles. In 2025, we will debut a new series on local art movements, experiences and communities.
Art book publishing submissions for K.Co Press open twice a year. Our next window will be September 3 - December 6, 2024, for publication in 2026.
K.Co Press publishes books in a traditional author/publisher model and is not able to offer partner/hybrid or similar publishing agreements.
Submission Information:
SUBMISSIONS OPEN SEPT 3, at submissions@kcopress.com.
Art Books
From Sept. 3 to Dec. 6, we will open for artists to submit book proposals to publish in 2026.
Art books are typically one author/artist focusing on their work over a period of time, or on a specific theme. These may take the form of a conventional "coffee table book" or a smaller, high quality image-based paperback, depending on the proposed content and vision for the book.
Artists interested in publishing a book of their work should send a 3-5 paragraph email summarizing their art, creative philosophy and personal story as it relates to their art. If you have a specific focus or narrative in mind for the book, please include that as well.
Submitting artists should also include relevant biographical information, as well as a list of any exhibitions, notable private, public or corporate acquisitions and an overview of their collector community. (Please do not include collectors’ identifiable or personal information.)
Please address your experience and comfort with media, special events and other necessary promotional tasks. Proactively marketing books is our job as publishers and part of your job as a potential author, and integral to the success of the book. We just want to understand what that might look like to you.
Please include any professional social media handles you’d like to share.
Please attach 3-5 low-res images that represent the work you’d like to highlight in the book.
Full-length art books are negotiated as a traditional publishing deal.

Travel Art Series
From Sept. 3 - Dec. 6, we will be open for artists to submit proposals for inclusion in a new travel art series, to publish in 2026.
We are specifically looking for writers who are artists or subject matter experts (curators, arts journalists, cultural critics, etc.) with insider, local or specialized knowledge of one of the following locations:
- Detroit, Mich.
- Alabama
- Santa Fe/Albuquerque, N.M. Region
Accepted contributors will be offered an honorarium, full credit for their work, and as much support and visibility as we can give.
Please send a 3-5 paragraph email summarizing your experience and familiarity with the location, with information about your previous publications and connections in the visual arts community you would like to write about. Please include a brief paragraph summarizing what, specifically, you would like to write — an article, essay, interview etc., and from what angle. We are not looking for fiction, poetry, illustrations or photography at this time.
General Policies:
We are only accepting submissions from US residents at this time.
Submit documents (Word or PDF preferred — no Google Docs please) to submissions@kcopress.com.
Please use the subject line: YourName_Option_Date (“Option” should specify - travel series or art book.)
Please only submit once per option per open call, and only pitch if you can be generally available and responsive, are experienced in and/or comfortable with highly collaborative editing and promotional processes, and can commit to seeing the project to completion within 9-12 months from acceptance.
Please only submit material that has not been published elsewhere.
Artists/Authors are responsible for obtaining and potentially purchasing all image rights, contributor content and associated rights, and other third-party content. Please have these agreements and commitments, preferably in writing, before submitting your proposal.
We don’t share your information, and we don’t keep or archive work that hasn’t been selected for publication. If you would like to watermark your work before submitting it, that is acceptable but not required.
If we are a good match for you, we will reply after submissions close and exchange more details. If you do not hear from us after three months after submissions close, we’ve determined that your project/proposal is not quite right for us, and wish you luck elsewhere. Unfortunately, due to the volume of email we receive, we can’t guarantee that every *message will get a response. (*We will always do our best to answer or clarify process-related questions.)
Please understand that this will not be a heavily monitored inbox, and may be accessed by multiple K.Co staff.
The dedicated inbox is only used for submissions and submissions-related communication. Submissions communication sent to other K.Co email addresses may be disregarded.
